High Fives Rebuff Campaniles, 3-2
|
The Louisville High Fives and California Campaniles played an exciting game.
Ken Thomas had an impact in the 3-2 Louisville win over California. The 19-year old center fielder went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2. Louisville starter Kelly Horton was credited with the win after throwing 81 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Picking up his 8th save was 21-year old left-handed pitcher Martin Vinter.
Melvin Morris helped out the Louisville cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the left fielder went 1 for 4.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said High Fives manager Wayne Myers. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
By defeating California, the 8th-place High Fives improved to 12-18.
