Scarlet Brutes Scratch Out 1-0 Win
|
In a tension-filled contest between the Ohio State Scarlet Brutes and the Villanova Starbursts, pitcher Félix Berrios was superb. The Ohio State right-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Berrios, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. The 4th-place Scarlet Brutes improved to 18-12.
The Scarlet Brutes got a big at-bat from first baseman Lorenzo Achaval. For the game, Achaval went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Ohio State a 1-0 lead.
"My gosh almighty, Félix was tremendous," said Ohio State manager Randolph Snow.
