Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Montlake Malamutes
|
The Washington Montlake Malamutes got a marvelous performance from pitcher Paul Calder. The left-hander kept the St. John's offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-1 Washington victory at Washington Grounds. Washington, at 15-13, sits in third place in the Western 10 Conference.
Gabriel Mitchell played the role of hero for Washington. In the bottom of the tenth, he launched a 2-run home run off Roberto Martínez to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Washington manager Mason Stout. "That's what Paul is right now."
