Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Stanford Axe and Marshall McConaugheys.

Though he had a stellar game, Paul Battle could not prevent his team, the Marshall McConaugheys, from losing, 4-3, to the Stanford Axe. Battle went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Dave Carter got the save, the 8th for him this season.

Stanford took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Luis Quintanilla hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Axe.

Marshall manager Jiro Heida said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.

The 5th-place Axe hiked their record to 14-14.
