Sherpas Hang 4-1 Loss on Dragons
At Sherpas Ballpark, the UAB Dragons and West Virginia Sherpas were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Sherman Espinosa propelled his team to victory over the UAB Dragons. The final score was 4-1, West Virginia. The Sherpas are now 7-18, while the Dragons fall to 7-18.

The Dragons had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Sherpas going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old third baseman Bill Thornton came to the plate. Thornton hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from UAB hurler Roger Bryant. It was Thornton's 10th home run of the year.

"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Thornton after the game.
