|
Houston Shastas pitcher Lance Simmons whisked his team past the Washington State Palouse Knights, 6-2. Simmons, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Houston is now 23-3, while Washington State is 11-15.
Houston used the hitting of Jon Lyons to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Shastas on top, 2-0. For the game, Lyons had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Lyons.
