California Gets 2-1 Win
|
The California Campaniles downed the Rutgers Old Queens, 2-1, at Old Queens Stadium. Stellar pitching by Alexis MacIntosh had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the USCBA COL in innings pitched with 35.0, handcuffed his opponent all game. MacIntosh, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. California now sits at 18-8, while Rutgers falls to 12-14.
It could have been a different outcome for California, had it not been for Marvin Owens, the 19-year old shortstop . Owens contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put California up, 2-0.
"Some games build character," said California manager Fred Hogan. "Like this one."
