Gibbs, Scarlet Brutes Wallop Axe, 11-2

With center fielder Fred Gibbs leading the charge, the Ohio State Scarlet Brutes defeated the Stanford Axe, 11-2, at Ballpark of Ohio State. Gibbs, who is tied for 3rd in the USCBA COL in RBI with 26, was 3-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He drove in 7 runs and scored once. The third-place Scarlet Brutes go to 15-10.
Gibbs contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ohio State in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 2-1, Gibbs took a fastball from Alonso Anderson and stroked the home run to center. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Scarlet Brutes to leap in front, 4-2.
"Not much went right for us," Stanford manager Sam Harvey said, when asked afterward about the game.
