Puddings Earn Late Win
Rice beat Purdue at Astronauts Ballpark, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to left fielder Wilbur Skinner. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Gary Graham recorded his 4th save for Rice. Rice sits in 4th place in the American Heartland Conference at 11-10.

Randy West drew 1 walk for Rice. The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Miguel Hernández. It was his 9th walk of the season.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," West said.
