Ricardo Macías made an impact in the 5-3 East Carolina win over Northwestern. Macías was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Joel Cardenas earned his 4th save, after closing out the game. The third-place Sea Dawgs improved to 12-7.

East Carolina used the timely hitting of Joe Wert to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sea Dawgs on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I like the roll we're on," said East Carolina manager Tim Bonar.
