The Houston Shastas beat the Arizona State Solar Angels, 7-3. Houston pitcher and Fresno, California, native Mike Cruz led the way. Rod Walker earned the save for Houston, his 7th. The Shastas boast a remarkable 16-3 record.

The Shastas got a big at-bat from first baseman Jon Lyons. For the game, Lyons went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Houston a 2-0 lead.

"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Cruz.
