Scarlet Brutes Come Up Short at St. John's, 4-3
|
The St. John's Kaisers topped the Ohio State Scarlet Brutes, 4-3, with youngster Roger Soto playing a key role. Soto was 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Kaisers in the win. Jimmy Taylor got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Roberto Martínez finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Early in the game, Soto had a 2-run home run for St. John's. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Kaisers on top, 2-0.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Soto told the St. John's Times.
The third-place Scarlet Brutes dropped to 11-6.
