The Central Florida Wicked Witches knocked off the Southern Miss Confederates, 8-3, in United States Collegiate Baseball Association action at Field of the Conferderates. Central Florida pitcher and Homestead, Florida, native Rick Henderson had an outstanding performance. The winner was Henderson. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Brenton Shafer. The Wicked Witches go to 6-9, putting them 8th in the American Heartland Conference.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Sergio Ortíz? The Central Florida center fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Wicked Witches on top, 2-0. For the game, Ortíz had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
