The Arizona Lutes topped the West Virginia Sherpas, 5-2, in United States Collegiate Baseball Association action at Ballpark of Arizona. The game was highlighted by the performance of Arizona pitcher Keith Martínez. The winner was Martínez. He threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Quincy Griffin. The win for the Lutes raised their record to 8-8.

Steve Potter, who leads the USCBA COL in triples with 3, helped out the Arizona cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the second baseman went 1-3 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"I thought we competed really well," said Lutes manager Shawn Cook. "I thought the energy was really good."
