5-Hit Blitz by Heath
|
A jubilant Bill Heath joined the postgame press conference at Washington Grounds to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Washington Montlake Malamutes pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Iowa Archers right fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 6-3 Archers win.
"He made it look easy," said Mason Stout, manager of the Montlake Malamutes. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Bill Heath singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.
This season, Heath is swinging the bat at a .279 pace. He has hit no home runs and scored 3 times, while driving in 2. His on-base percentage is .326 and he has played in 11 games.
