Palouse Knights Defeated, 6-5, After Ohio State Rallies
|
The Ohio State Scarlet Brutes beat the Washington State Palouse Knights, 6-5, at Ballpark of Ohio State. The Scarlet Brutes got a fine performance from first baseman Mike Battle, who slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Ohio State reliever Jeff Long picked up the win to move to 1-0. Adam Mitchell suffered the loss. The victory gives Ohio State a record of 7-5.
The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Battle. Facing Adam Mitchell with the bases loaded, the Ohio State first baseman had a run-scoring walk. Game over, walk-off style!
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Battle said.
