5 Straight Wins for Persians
Michigan State designated hitter Cooper Pope was instrumental in helping the Persians triumph, 5-3, over the Villanova Starbursts. Pope was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the save was Mark Bowman, his 5th. The loss drops Villanova to 5-4.

Pope had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Alex Gill, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Persians a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Pope.

"Good win for us," said Pope. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
