The Purdue Astronauts cut down the Central Florida Wicked Witches by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Paco Martínez. Martínez was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Astronauts. Purdue reliever Alejandro Rodríguez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Javier Guerrero took the loss. With the win, Purdue improves its record to 3-4.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Francisco Cortéz? The 19-year old second baseman Cortéz stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Purdue up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

After the game, Purdue manager Ramón Rodríguez applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
