Atkinson 3-for-5 to Fuel Pride Offense
The Penn State Pride topped the Minnesota Lucky Rodents, 8-4, with third baseman Mark Atkinson playing a big role. Atkinson was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Pride in the win. Willie Savage, the winner, is now 2-0. He struck out 4 and walked 0 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. Tim Hooper earned save number 1 this season.

The Pride got a gift in the top of the eighth inning, when they were leading 5-4. With two out and the bases loaded, Matt Witt reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 6-4, Penn State.

In postgame remarks, Atkinson said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
