The Rice Puddings pasted the USC Travelers with a convincing 12-1 defeat at Puddings Ballpark. Alex Ward was a prime factor in the Rice win. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Mike O'Neil. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 5 and walked 1. USC is 3-4 after the loss.

Ward contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Rice in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Ward took a screwball from Abba Fida and stroked the home run to left-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Puddings to leap in front, 4-1.

"What a debacle," groaned USC manager António Gómez in postgame remarks.
