Astronauts Rack Up 5-1 Win Versus Rutgers
|
Joe Matthews, who is the top prospect in the Astronauts organization, never let the Old Queens get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his forkball, to pitch the Astronauts to a win, 5-1. Kade Vinson closed the door for Purdue, picking up his 1st save of the year. The win gives Purdue a record of 2-4.
Purdue used the hitting of Paco Martínez to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Astronauts on top, 4-0. For the game, Martínez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Rutgers manager Will González.
