Palouse Knights Win Squeaker, 4-3, Over Old Queens
|
Washington State starter Alan James pitched effectively against the Rutgers Old Queens at Old Queens Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Adam Mitchell earned the save for Washington State, his 1st of the year. Rutgers is 1-2 after the defeat.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington State, had it not been for Cipriano Sánchez, the 21-year old first baseman . Sánchez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Washington State up, 3-1.
Sánchez attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
