Dave Costello, who finished 3rd in the SL in wins with 16 last year, pitched well, but the Toyama Wind Dancers still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Niihama-shi Ghosts at Castle of Cagliostro. The winning pitcher was Connor Leith. His record now stands at 3-1. The left-hander went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Ghosts. Otso Lyytinen finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

Niihama-shi used a clutch at-bat from Santiago Aranda to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Ghosts ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Aranda. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."

The Ghosts saw their record improve to 24-18.
