Sols Topple Zapateros, 3-2, as Álvarez Shines
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Sols Ballpark. Fortunately for the Hermosillo Sols, though, Carlos Álvarez was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, to lead his team past the Leon Zapateros, 3-2. Pedro Méndez got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Félix Ramírez, who finished 2nd in the ABSF-MEX AAA in saves with 27 last year, earned the save for Hermosillo.
Early in the game, Álvarez had a 2-run home run for Hermosillo. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Sols on top, 2-0.
"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Juan Rodríguez.
Leon, with the loss, is still a hardy 6-2.
