Bears Take Tight Tilt
|
The Bakersfield Bears knocked off the Madison Malts, 4-3, in Sovereign League action at The Malthouse. Bakersfield pitcher and Rock Hill, South Carolina, native Bill Manley had an outstanding performance. Manley got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Ánibal Gallegos was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
Bakersfield used a clutch at-bat from Katsumoto Ito to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bears ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Manley said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
The Bears improved their record to 10-24 with the win over Madison.
