Though he had a stellar game, Ju-zheng Nie could not prevent his team, the Taiwan Tech University Typhoon, from losing, 7-6, to the University of Sydney Wallabies. Nie went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Malcolm Reilly came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. University of Sydney is now 1-2.

It could have been a different outcome for University of Sydney, had it not been for Tokuhei Tanaka, the 21-year old catcher . Tanaka contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put University of Sydney up, 6-4.

"We took home the win," said Tanaka. "What's not to like?"
