Kumamoto turned a good effort from starter Ramón Núñez into a win over the Laval Islanders at Ibaraki Grounds. The final score was 5-0. Núñez, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. Kumamoto is now 18-26, Laval 23-21.

In the bottom of the second inning, center fielder Arturo Carolino had a 2-run double for Kumamoto. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Mothra on top, 2-0.

"The tide will turn," said losing manager Ken Tuttle. "We just need to keep our chins up."
