Calzones of Laredo Raise Rally Flag, Beat Florida, 2-1
|
Runs were scarce at Streets Casino and Holdings Park at Jacksonville.
The Florida Farstriders wasted an impressive 6.2-inning effort from starter Edgardo Trevino, falling, 2-1, to the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo at Streets Casino and Holdings Park at Jacksonville. Sebastiaan de Roode claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 2-0.
San Antonio used the timely hitting of James Caldwell to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Calzones of Laredo on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We want to make a habit of winning," Caldwell said after the game.
San Antonio is now 22-12. Florida is 27-7.
