Drillers Lose Late to Mall Ratz
Medicine Hat got a big-time effort from pitcher Haranobu Taniguchi, but it wasn't enough to keep the Edmonton Mall Ratz from winning the game, 2-0. Taniguchi threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Edmonton reliever Derrek Christensen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Haranobu Taniguchi was saddled with the loss. The Mall Ratz now have a record of 18-21 with the win over Medicine Hat.

Gary Newell chipped in a 2-run home run for Edmonton in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"This team is capable of getting on a roll," said Edmonton skipper Ramón Arroyo.
