Islanders Snatch 2-1 Win
|
Quebec City got a terrific performance from pitcher Carlos Macías, but it wasn't enough to beat the Laval Islanders. Laval won the Quebec City Ballpark contest, 2-1. Macías threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ethan Simms. He tossed 99 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The save was credited to Dimian Aldrama, his 2nd.
Liam Coinneach had a direct impact on the outcome. Coinneach contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth inning to put Laval up, 2-1.
"If we keep winning the close games," Coinneach said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
The Islanders, now 15-6, have been playing some good baseball.
