The Laval Islanders defeated the Medicine Hat Drillers, 12-6, at Medicine Hat Municipal Stadium. Laval right fielder Carlos De La Garza had a superb performance. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Laval, now 10-5, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Mario Mejía, the Laval second baseman, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to make the score 2-0, Islanders. For the game, Mejía was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
