Kumamoto got a terrific game from first baseman Pierre George. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Medicine Hat, 4-3. George was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Sandro Cuevas got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. Finley Dwennon earned the save for Medicine Hat, his 1st of the year.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-born Miguel Méndez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Drillers trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Medicine Hat on top.

Medicine Hat manager Michael Burton called it "a good, solid win."

The victory makes Medicine Hat 3-7.
