Late Offense Lifts Kumamoto to 6-5 Victory
Sherwood Park right fielder Reece Green was sensational. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Kumamoto beat the Hoods, 6-5. Kumamoto pitcher Jae-hyun Kim earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Don Chandler suffered the loss. Kumamoto goes to 2-3.

The Mothra were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 25-year old second baseman Vincente Encarnación landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch fastball from Max Williams into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Ibaraki Grounds denizens into a frenzy and sent the Mothra home with a thrilling 6-5 win.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Encarnación, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
