Port-au-Prince Falls, 2-1, as Skid Hits 7 Games
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Hampton Airborne and the Port-au-Prince Bokors, 23-year old right-handed pitcher Theodor Hengstenberg was the difference-maker. The Hampton right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Calvin Woodard closed it out for his 8th save. Hampton, at 34-104, occupies last place in the Atlantic Alliance South.
Harris Crichton's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was critical. The Hampton right fielder hit a sacrifice fly, to put his team on top, 2-1. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"Some games build character," said Hampton manager Josh Gunter. "Like this one."
