Loggerdoggers Suffer 1-0 Road Loss
|
The Inverness Highlanders and Beaufort Loggerdoggers put on a pitchers' duel.
Beaufort got a big-time effort from pitcher Gabriel López, but it wasn't enough to keep the Inverness Highlanders from winning the game, 1-0. López threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Michael McCarver was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed no runs on 3 hits, with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Ju-zheng Chio nailed down the save.
Santos Cruz drove in one run against the Loggerdoggers. In the bottom of the first inning, he grounded out, driving in 1 run, putting Inverness in front, 1-0.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Cruz. "You've got to get results."
The Highlanders saw their record improve to 66-68.
