Inverness and Beaufort left the crowd in suspense until the last at-bat.
The Inverness Highlanders scored a tight, 3-2 win versus the Beaufort Loggerdoggers at The Fortress at Inverness. Inverness pitcher Iemochi Matsuoka held his own in the contest. The third-place Highlanders bumped their record to 65-67.
The Highlanders relied on left fielder Santos Cruz for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Matsuoka. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
