Santurce Resolve Tested in 3-1 Win
The Santurce Castillos relied on a great performance from Nathan Cowan, who is tied for 6th in the ATAL in strikeouts with 146, to beat the Beaufort Loggerdoggers, 3-1, in 11 innings at Santurce Stadium. Santurce reliever Vincente González was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Lewis Bedser. Santurce sits in 4th place in the Atlantic Alliance Euro-Caribbean at 63-66.

Santurce got a clutch hit from Dave Tapia. The shortstop launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

During his postgame press conference, Castillos manager Pepe Rico told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
