The Port-au-Prince Bokors earned a close win over the Narragansett Seagulls, thanks in part to Carlos Castaneda. The Port-au-Prince right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the ATAL in strikeouts with 132, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. The win belonged to Shigeaki Maeda in relief. His record improves to 3-6. Wilson Vega took the loss for Narragansett. At 53-70, the Bokors claim last place in the Atlantic Alliance Euro-Caribbean.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Kuemon Iijima was at the plate when Port-au-Prince scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Bokors to go in front, 3-2.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Iijima. "Just do my job."
