Scranton Slaps 4-1 Loss on Seagulls

Scranton pitcher Katsuyuki Sugano had a large part in his team beating the Narragansett Seagulls, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winner was Sugano. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Patrick Smith. At 68-52, the Scary Monsters claim third place in the Atlantic Alliance North.
Dave Hoffman had a big 2-run double for the Scary Monsters in the top of the first inning. With Scranton leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Patrick Smith, who is tied for 10th in the ATAL in strikeouts with 126, and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scary Monsters ahead, 3-0.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Hoffman told the Scranton News.
