Thoroughbreds Winners, 6-1, Over Alleghenies
|
Kentucky Thoroughbreds starter Juan Acosta was on his game, helping his team beat the West Virginia Alleghenies, 6-1. The loss puts West Virginia at 10-20.
Juan Carlos Cruz had a big 2-run double for the Thoroughbreds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Kentucky leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Héctor González and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thoroughbreds ahead, 3-0.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Acosta. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
