The Portland Chinook picked up a win at Kauffman Stadium, taking down the Sacramento Deltas, 4-3. Starting pitcher Ricardo Rico was a big reason why. The win moves Portland to a record of 14-11.

Norogumi Nishida hit a run-scoring double off Chris Puddifoot in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Chinook in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Nishida had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Rico told the Portland Chronicle. "And padding the Portland win column."
