In a low-scoring contest, Santurce pitcher Bruce Booth was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win in 11 innings. Peter Massey, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With the win, the Castillos improved to 52-62.

The Castillos got a clutch hit from right fielder Marty Gunther. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to left, to win the game for the Castillos.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Gunther. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
