The Inverness Highlanders faced a tough opponent in Youngstown pitcher Ben Ford, but found a way to pull out the victory at Thunder Ballpark by a final score of 6-3 in 13 innings. Ford went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. The second-place Highlanders have a record of 60-50.
Inverness went up, 5-3, on Santos Cruz's 12th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Cruz hit in the top of the 13th, left Youngstown pitcher Laurent Roux shaking his head.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Cruz.
