Youngstown first baseman Ricardo Hernández helped his team beat the Hampton Airborne, 11-3. Hernández went 2 for 3 for the Thunder. Youngstown reliever Sean Donnelly picked up the win to move to 2-0. Chuck Carter suffered the loss. With the win over Hampton, the Thunder improved to 48-55.

In the top of the fifth, Youngstown shortstop Carlos Martínez had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Martínez stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-3, Youngstown. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Martínez said after the game.
