Highlanders Clip Insurers in Tight Contest, 3-2
|
Inverness parlayed a decent outing from starter Jack Reid into a solid win over the Omaha Insurers. The final score was 3-2. The win went to Zhuo-cheng Ow in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Gabriele Calasanz took the loss. The second-place Highlanders now have a win-loss record of 53-47.
Had Cliff de Best not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, de Best hit a 2-run double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Highlanders.
"Jack kept them off-balance, threw a great game for us," said Highlanders manager Chad Fountain.
