Inverness Highlanders starter Juan Rodríguez hurled his team past the Youngstown Thunder, 4-1. Ichiro Taguchi earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 5-7. The 4th-place Thunder dropped to 54-45.

With two out in the top of the ninth, Andrew Gómez had a game-changing hit. The Highlanders first baseman slammed a 2-run single off Je-won Kim, making the score 4-1, Inverness.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Inverness manager Chad Fountain. "It's usually not just one thing."
