With Late Score, Highlanders Beat Sea Lions
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Inverness Highlanders and Monterey Sea Lions.

At Monterey Grounds, the Inverness Highlanders edged the Monterey Sea Lions, 5-4, in 10 innings. Inverness center fielder Toju Samurakami, who jolted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. The winner was Inverness reliever Jack Reid, now 2-1. The loser was Ánibal Cruz. Alberto Martínez earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.

Samurakami had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-2 fastball from Ánibal Cruz, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Highlanders a 5-4 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Samurakami.

After the game, Samurakami applauded his team's resolve. "We kept our focus on the task before us," he said.

The first-place Highlanders hiked their record to 51-38.
