Bears Absorb 6-4 Home Loss
|
The Aurora Borealis racked up a win at The Oaks at Aera Field, bumping off the Bakersfield Bears, 6-4. Brenden Clymo, who started for Aurora, pitched effectively for his team. Clymo, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Earning his 6th save for Aurora was Héctor Gutiérrez.
In the bottom of the ninth, Don Mangin stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Bears were trailing 6-4, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Héctor Gutiérrez made a terrific pitch and Mangin grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Bakersfield comeback.
The Bears, at 8-19, have stumbled out of the gate.
