Riding the 3-hit performance of the 27-year old first baseman Kenkichi Daikawa, the Reno Zephyrs stopped the Yuma Arroyos, 6-2. Toby Ayers, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Arroyos to 2 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Anthony Soame collected save number 9.

Don Washington had a big solo home run for the Zephyrs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Reno leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Elio Polandi and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Zephyrs on top, 4-2.

"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Reno manager António Morales.

The Arroyos fall to 7-18 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2042 season.
