The Youngstown Thunder faced a tenacious opponent in Santurce pitcher Jaime Gutiérrez, but still scratched out a win at Santurce Stadium by a final score of 3-2 in 15 innings. Gutiérrez went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Youngstown reliever Dave Hartman got the win, raising his record to 3-4. Cisco Blanco was tagged with the loss. The Thunder now have a record of 30-32 with the win over Santurce.

Youngstown relied on the bat of Ricardo Hernández to get the win. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the 15th inning to put the Thunder ahead, 2-1. For the game, Hernández had 1 double and 1 triple in 7 at-bats.

"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Thunder manager Bobby Bryant.
